Temp staff

I registered at a temporary employment agency 2 weeks ago.
Because I want money for my travel and I want to work in another field.

1 week ago,I worked at a company which inputs many data for other companies,at Kachidoki.

My job was making many copies and scaning a number of plan.

I was very surprised at seeing the slogan”Cost-cutting! Increase efficiency!” on the wall.

One employee said to me that I had to make 1 copy within 1 minute.

I came to understand the structure of the industry.

This weekend,I worked at a hotel which was cheap and popular with many people.
That hotel’s name was”AKIHABARA WASHINGTON HOTEL”.

In the hotel,my job was cleaning bathrooms and washing glasses.

The head of maid explained to me the procedure for cleaning the bathroom.
Her explanation was so fast for me that I couldn’t understand it to hear the first time.

I started to clean rooms, but she said to me that I must hurry up,because I must clean 20 bathrooms.

I barely remembered the procedure and finished cleaning 1 room, but she said to me I was too slow.

Because I had never done such a job,I was slow!

And I thought that the procedure was unhygienic.

We used the same towel to clean the bathes, the toilets and the floors of bathroom.

And I washed glasses in the procedure!
They didn’t give me a glove and I had to clean the toilets!
How unhygienic it was!

The problem was due to too much cost-cutting at this hotel.

They don’t pay enough money for the maids,so the maids complain and they are not pleasant.

The hotel dosen’t employ enough people to clean rooms carefuly, and omit some procedure of the cleaning.

Some women said to me(they were temporary staff)that they won’t stay in a cheap hotel hereafter.

I expect that the companies which supply the cheap service, have the same problems.

I had a precious experience.

If I am going to receive cheap service, I must think about the background behind the service.

Well,I am going to bring my cup when I will stay in a cheap hotel.

TOEIC

I took TOEIC for the first time yesterday at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT).

But I missed many questions.

I have been studying for about 6 months and I have been listeningt to English podcasts everyday.

So,I thought I could answer more questions.

There were many people who tried TOEIC.
Some candidates were foreigner.

At first, there was the Listening section.
The latter part of the TOEIC test was Reading.

I could listen to many questions, but I couldn’t answer many of them.
I knew that I couldn’t understand the grammar and vocabulary accurately.

I didn’t enough time to answer all of the Reading questions.
Half of the Reading questions from 3 options were short sentence questions where we had to choose the correct answer.

The latter part of the Reading questions were long sentence questions.
I could answer the long sentence questions, because I often read English websites and free papers.

Those questions were easier than the short sentence questions.

But,I didn’t have enough time to read half of the long sentence questions.
I spent too much time answering the short sentence questions.

This time I came to understand TOEIC very well, and I knew my weaknesses.

I want to study English more efficiently.

Running at Kōkyo

I have been running at Kōkyo on Tuesday and Wednesday.

My company has a lunch beak of 1 hour, and we can take it whenever we want.

I usually bring my lunch box which I(some time my husband) cook, and I eat alone, then I study English.

But I started to run around Kōkyo which is near my office.

Because I wanted to have more time in the evening to cook dinner, study English and to practice the shamisen.

But I want to run 3 times per week.

So I decided to run at lunch time.

I reseached on the internet where the best place to run is,and I found out that Kōkyo is the best place.

I had been running for 5 kilometers on weekday evenings, and the distance around Kōkyo is also 5 kilometers.

I usually change my clothes to running gear at our office, and I start running.

There are many businessman near my office.
But only I wear runnning gear!
It was embarrassing for me, but I got used to be such a situation quickly.

Some men usually run around Kōkyo.

Thay run faster than me (even if they are old men).

I want to run faster, but I have been runnning at my natural spead.

Kōkyo is one of the famous places for amateur runners, and they named it”Kōkyo-run”.

The 17th St.Patrick’s Day Parade in Tokyo

I went to The 17th St.Patrick’s Day Parade in Tokyo with my friend.

We met at Omotesando station, and went to FUJIMAMAS to eat a special buffet.

I didn’t know about St.Patrick’s Day until yesterday.

So, I didn’t wear anything green which I regretted at once.

Many people were wearing something green, and they looked very happy.

I enjoyed the special lunch and talked with my friend for about 2 hours.

A band played Irish music during lunch.

When we finished lunch and left, there were many people in the street.

Since there was only a little time until the parade started, we went to an event stage at Omotesando-hills.

There were many people there too.

I said to my friend that I didn’t know there were so many Irish in Tokyo!

She said to me there are many people whose ancestors are from Ireland.

The 17th St.Patrick’s Day Parade Tokyo started at 2:00p.m.

Various groups took part in the parade, and many audience took pictures.

I was given a shamrock seal by a woman who was taking part in the parade, and I pasted it on my cheek.

I thought that he who enjoys everything enjoys life!

After the parade, fortunately we could see ”Riverdance“ at Omotesando-hills.

I loved it!!

I enjoyed this event very much!
